Welcome to Waves Day Provision

"It is such a relief to have found a setting where Will is meaningfully engaged and I don’t think we’ll ever take that for granted. We would never have believed that Will would gain the confidence to take part in waves got talent and that is due to your nurturing ethos, I’m sure."

PARENT / CARER

Waves offers high quality and affordable care for adults with Learning Disabilities. We are located in the beautiful village of Slaithwaite and offer a varied and exciting range of opportunities.

We’re here to make a real difference to the lives and achievements of adults and young people with learning difficulties. We’ve been doing it for over a decade and members, their relatives, social workers and others tell us we’re doing it rather well

Community access, Work placements & the Waves shop

Waves is based in a thriving village surrounded by beautiful countryside. We make the most of the local facilities by regularly going on trips out and about. We enjoy the accessible canal and reservoir pathways on our doorstep, have picnics in the park and visit local museums. Our members attend street bikes, go horse riding, and see live music/ theatre. We enjoy being involved in village events such as the Christmas tree festival. We also hold a popular Christmas fayre offering stalls to local crafts people. Waves members go shopping in the village for baking activities, D.I.Y. products and animal feed. We also use nearby farm shops and greengrocers to get the freshest produce for our kitchen. Our sports activities are held at the local pool and gym, and our train enthusiasts make the most of the fast rail links.

Waves offers work placements to our members in the local village of Slaithwaite and outlying areas. We have strong links with nearby businesses including shops, beauty salons, art galleries and cafes. Our members benefit from varied and interesting work experience opportunities with these local businesses. We have a designated work experience co-ordinator, who helps members to find placements that fit their aspirations and interests.

We are also due to open our own shop and café ‘MadeBuyWaves’, the brainchild of the Waves Committee. This will be run by Waves members and will act as a stepping stone for them to gaining work in the community. The shop will sell produce grown in our garden, artwork made at Waves and seasonal items. It is a fantastic opportunity for members to showcase their talents, grow in confidence and make links with the local community. Pop in for a coffee and a chat soon.
